The earthquake that struck Haiti a few weeks previous is a current event in this world that one would be pressed to understand considering the geographical distance between us and the Haitian people. However, that does not mean that it didn’t happen. Nor does that mean that the Haitian people do not require help.

Mississippi Baptist are working to do what they can for the disaster-struck Haitians. The Mississippi Baptist, along with the Kentucky Baptists, have partnered with a ministry effort organized by the Florida Baptist Convention. The team of Mississippi Baptist, who’s members come from various locations throughout the state, have set up a medical camp and had seen over 1,100 patients as of February 18, 2010 (imb.com).

The ten member team of Baptist from Mississippi have treated many differing illnesses and ailments such as respiratory problems, broken bones, and more serious illnesses requiring a longer medical stay. The Baptist have also seen a wide success in Bible distribution and worship among the citizens of Haiti.

Students and parents please take note:

The NGBC Medical Release Waiver is required for both all trips and events that you or your child participate in at North Greenwood Baptist Church.

We have a new and updated form of medical release waiver. However, the old waiver that you may have on file is still sufficient for all purposes. The new waiver is in a digital format and can be downloaded and filled out from your computer. This does several things- First, it allows us to receive forms that are more easily read considering that they will be typed and signed rather than hand-written; Secondly, it will reduce the cost of office supplies to our office by allowing you to receive the form in a digital format rather than a hard copy version; and lastly, it allows for a quicker reception of the form.

If it has been a while since your last form update, please take a few moments now to download and fill out a new form. A new form is especially important if your child plans to participate in the Spring Break 2010 trip or the Centrifuge trip, as both will require a waiver.

Please visit this link to view and download the new form.

Please note that Centrifuge requires their own waiver to filed with the camp.

Most of you have most likely heard of the disaster that has struck the country of Haiti in past days. Most of you have most likely also received text messages or emails telling you to donate to the relief effort. However, what most of you probably haven’t done is donate. The relief agencies assisting in the disaster recovery efforts cannot do this on their own.

Connections Student Ministries does have a preferred and trusted donations partner for international missions – Samaritan’s Purse. The name Samaritan’s Purse may sound a bit familiar because this is the same international missions organization that organizes Operation Christmas Child each and every year. Most of you have donated shoeboxes. This is an agency that can be trusted to do the right thing and we encourage you to do the right thing by helping them help the disaster struck peoples of Haiti.

You may give to this cause by visiting this website address: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/Giving/Haiti_Donation/
